Larry D. Lord

Minister of Music

Larry LordLarry Lord graduated from Tate High School, in Pensacola, Florida and attended Mississippi Gulf Coast Junior College at Perkinston, Mississippi on a Trumpet Scholarship. He then attended the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama on a Vocal Scholarship, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education. Larry has done graduate work in Supervision at both Livingston University and the University of West Florida.

Larry worked as an educator for seven years, both as a High School Choral Director and Middle School Music Teacher. He also coached High School Baseball and Football during those years. In addition to his experience in education, Larry has also served as Music Director in two other United Methodist Churches and as Youth Choir Director in two different Churches, as well.

Larry LordLarry has been an integral part of the leadership for the Alabama-West Florida Conference Youth Choir Camp at the Blue Lake United Methodist Assembly Grounds since its beginning in 1977. He has also been active with the Fellowship of United Methodists in Music and Arts, as well as being a member of Chorister's Guild. Larry is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), and regularly attends State, Southern Division, and National ACDA conventions. In November of 1991, the Chancel Choir, under Larry's direction, was the only Church Choir invited to perform at the State ACDA Convention held at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Also, in November of 2000, the Wesleyan Singers, under his leadership, performed for the State ACDA Convention held at Seminole Community College, in Lake Mary, Florida.

Larry Lord, Minister of MusicLarry's choirs have also been honored to perform at other occasions of note, particularly, singing for the Annual Conference held at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama, and also singing for the Bishop's Convocation on Preaching, held at First UMC in Dothan, Alabama.

Since coming on the Staff here in the Summer of 1985, Larry has helped the Church develop a strong and effective Music Ministry. He and his family have provided good leadership in many areas of service in the Church. Larry is married to the former Carol Ann Crooke, of Pensacola, Florida. Larry and Carol have three children, Lucas Lord, Lindy Hayes, and Wesley Lord.
