Guatemala Short Term Missions Trip (August 2-9, 2008)

Our 22-member 2008 Mission Team served at Casa Bernabe orphanage where over 160 children from abandoned and abused situations reside in an incredibly loving and nurturing environment outside of Guatemala City. Over 125 people from our church have gone over the years. Member care, construction projects, relationship building, teaching at the on site school, long hours and cold showers were all part of the week’s activities this year. With donations globally being down due to economic reasons, the orphanage still struggles just to feed the children and staff the most basic of meals, while the staff often is months behind in being paid the little they receive for their 24/7 total life-care they provide the precious children. Several houses there were without electricity or communications for most of the week due to inadequate funds. Join us next year for an exciting return trip, August 1-8, 2009.
